Membership of Grange Rifle and Pistol Club
For Prospective Members
If you are interested in joining the Grange Rifle and Pistol Club you must write a covering letter, including your name, address, and phone number. This letter should be posted to the club's address, and for the attention of The Club Secretary.
If you are enquiring about junior membership, please note the proposed member must be of sufficient age to attend secondary school, that is, aged between 11 and 18. The junior member must be accompanied at all times on every visit by a parent or legal guardian.
After writing to the club secretary you will receive a letter of authority which you will have to produce to gain access to the club premises. You will need to bring this letter with you every time you visit the club. If you do not have a letter of authority you will not be allowed in to the club's premises, this is the law. If you do not receive your letter within four weeks of sending your written application please contact us via email on

Once you have your letter, come along for an introductory visit. You will also be asked for some form of identification e.g. driving license, passport etc. and to sign a declaration form that you are not an excluded person under section 21 of the Act. Please note you will not be allowed to handle firearms or ammunition during this visit - use it to have a look around and decide if you would like to become a member. If so, you must fill in the membership paperwork (three passport photographs and referee details are required) and pay a probationary membership fee which is £40 for adults or £13 for juniors (this fee includes a one off £10 admin fee to cover the cost of the NRA training manual). The club is required to pass details of new applicants (your name and address) to Merseyside Police and subject to everything being in order you will receive your membership card from us in the post. The probationary membership period is three months. If you successfully complete your probationary period and satisfy the minimum attendance criteria you will be nominated at a committee meeting for membership. The Club committee will discuss your behaviour and attendance over your probationary period and a vote will be taken on whether to admit you as a member. If you are accepted you will be offered full, junior, or family membership, depending on your circumstances.
